In yet another accident involving a rent-a-car, a tourist from Bangalore “ driving a Baleno rental car collided with a two-wheeler injuring its rider V D’Souza on the Bambolim slope, Tuesday afternoon.
The driver, Ayush Soni, allegedly drove recklessly, crashing the Baleno car GA-04-T-6737 into the victim’s Jupiter.
While the police were called, the victim was also taken to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. The Agassaim police said that no case was filed as the Bangalore youth assured to compensate for the damage and cover the victim's medical expenses.
The rise in accidents involving rent-a-cars has prompted the government to tighten the noose around them. While the surveillance for various violations is being strengthened, the Transport Department has ordered mandatory fitment and functioning of speed governors in all transport vehicles including rent-a-cars.
