'We will grow vegetables on the land in question', is how Opposition Leader Michael Lobo and his Siolim MLA-wife Delilah responded to the Mapusa police where they are accused of alleged illegal landfilling and tree-cutting in an official complaint filed by the North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA).
The Lobo couple on Wednesday also submitted several documents to the Mapusa police to deny the allegations against them of resorting to land-filling or tree cutting illegally.
They have also submitted that the land in question at Parra is being prepared for agriculture activities and to grow vegetables, including to set up a greenhouse and other necessary work.
The couple said, the produce is meant to meet the needs of hotels they run.
The NGPDA complaint against the Lobos came following directions of Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane, who has over the last week or so executed a series of orders, including suspending Outline Development Plans (ODPs) of Calangute-Candolim, Nagoa-Arpora-Parra and Vasco for an overall review.
Lobo on Tuesday had accused Rane of a witch hunt and targeting him.
