Parmesh Construction Company Limited (PCCL) has filed a police complaint at Verna Police Station against individuals for multiple offences, including assault, sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and unlawful assembly.
Shantanu Singh, the authorised representative of PCCL, stated in his complaint that the company is the lawful owner of property bearing survey no. 257/1 in Sancoale Village, purchased through a deed of sale dated July 14, 2023. He further alleged that the accused unlawfully trespassed into the property on February 24 at around 6 PM and subjected workers and female security guards to verbal abuse using derogatory and offensive language, threats, and inappropriate sexual remarks.
According to Singh, one of the accused allegedly hurled abuses at a worker, and when female security guards attempted to intervene and request him not to use offensive language , he, along with others, made derogatory comments and sexually inappropriate gestures. The accused allegedly asked the female guards to remove their clothes and insulted them based on their profession. When male workers attempted to stop the abuse, one of the accused allegedly threatened them with dire consequences, stating that they were "powerful individuals" and "untouchable."
Singh also mentioned that a similar incident had occurred on September 2, 2024, when the accused trespassed into the property and harassed the security personnel with verbal abuses and threats. A police complaint was filed the following day.
"This incident has caused significant emotional distress among our security personnel and workers. They now fear for their safety and are reluctant to continue working on the site. The derogatory remarks and threats have created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity," Singh said.
PCCL has urged the Verna Police and Mormugao DySP to take immediate action under sections 73, 74, 75, 78, 61, 187, 268, 349, 350, and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.
Singh concluded by stating, "We hope the authorities will take swift action to bring the offenders to justice."
