CANACONA
Suspecting that Canacona police may be biased in investigations into the porn video filmed at Chapoli Dam to save their own skin, the Jagruth Canconcars has warned that people of Canacona are alert and any attempts to twist the investigation will have serious repercussions, including protests on the streets.
Responding to ongoing police investigations, Sandesh Telekar of Jagruth Canconcars said the police must investigate the matter thoroughly, but also to verify phone call records of both cells (official and personnel) of suspended Canacona PI Tukaram Chawan, who is allegedly to have been in touch with Poonam Pandey and her husband, Sam Bombay.
Telekar said the Canacona police must also check calls and locations of the two police constables who were allegedly present at Chapoli Dam, when the alleged film shoot took place.
“We also have information that one of the constables had met Sam Bombay in a hotel some days earlier,” said Telekar.
Regarding the claim that another rickshaw driver had taken Poonam and Sam from the hotel in Palolem to Chapoli Dam, Telekar said: “It is true that some other person had picked up Poonam and Sam from the hotel.”
“The fact is, the actual driver took time to wake up and sought assistance of another driver to pick up the guests in his rickshaw from the hotel. The actual driver took over the rickshaw with the guests at the Palolem three-road junction. From there, he there took the couple to Chapoli dam.”
“The police needs to investigate not only how the nude video was filmed on government restricted property, but how police also connived in the matter,” said Telekar.
Telekar, who is also AAP spokesperson, said it was obvious that Poonam would deny the charges and will also deny that the act was done in connivance with police. “Canconcars are vigilant and Jagruth Canconcars are also following the case. Any cover up by the police to turn the enquiry into a farse and to give a clean chit to PI Chauhan will not be tolerated and people will come on the streets.”
Samrat Bhagat, who had also filed a police complaint, said they had demanded investigation by an officer not below the rank of DySP.
“However, a police inspector has been asked to investigate the alleged involvement of another inspector. Our concern is that the present IO is known to be very close and a batch mate of the suspended PI in the case,” alleged Bhagat.
