A youth from Parcem-Pernem was arrested late Monday night on charges of possessing drugs worth Rs 70,000 near the Garbage Treatment Plant at Tuem-Pernem.
According to police reports, a police team nabbed Shivanand Gawade (28) red-handed in illegal possession of 732 grams of 'Greenish colour dried leaves having flowering of
fruiting tops, seeds and stalk substance' worth Rs 70,000 concealed in the dickey of a scooter.
The suspected narcotic drug along with the scooter was seized by police and the accused was arrested under the NDPS Act. Pernem PSI Prathmesh Parsekar is conducting investigations in the case.
