MAPUSA
Former minister and Congress candidate for Calangute, Michael Lobo, said winds of change were blowing in Bardez and since BJP has failed to develop their constituencies they were forced to bring Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mapusa to counter their dipping fortunes in Bardez.
Lobo on Wednesday also said that inflation has hit the common man the most and rise in fuel price has brought total misery to the poor.
“Since the BJP has not developed their constituencies and because these people have sold jobs, all the people of Bardez are angry against them. There is no way that anybody can get convinced with their talks or with something what they are going to promise. The PM coming to Bardez will make no difference. People of Bardez have decided to pack all seven BJP MLAs home,” Lobo said.
He said inflation has burdened the common man and the housewife feels the pinch as the price of all basic needs have gone up due to the hike in fuel price.
“Building of highways and metros should not come at the cost of the poor. The PM and the government should reduce fuel prices across the country to give relief due to rising inflation,” he said.
On the allegations against Mapusa candidate, Sudhir Kandokar who was allegedly moving around trying to influence voters, Lobo said that the opposition was spreading rumours to divert attention.
“The real attention is the non-development of Mapusa,” he said.
