In a novel approach to resolve the difficulties confronting a temple priest, a youth from Idhar-Poinguinim has designed and built a wooden Electrical Vehicle (EV) to distribute prasad of Lord Parashuram from the temple in Poinguinim.
Pankaj Premanand Chari took two-and-a-half months to design and build the EV with only one seat, to ensure no other person is an occupant in the vehicle, as the Lord Parashuram prasad has to be distributed by only one person/priest.
It is learnt that the temple priest along with the Prasad is expected to walk barefoot along traditional and unsafe pathways passing through forests for over 1 km, making it difficult for temple priest to proceed for distribution of Prasad to devotees.
In a bid to tackle the hardships faced by the temple priest, Chari hit upon a novel idea to build an EV to make it easier and less tedious for the temple priest to distribute the Prasad to the devotees.
The EV vehicle has been built with wooden planks and two fibre-boards.
“It is designed and built exclusively for the Parashuram Temple to facilitate in the distribution of Lord Parashuram Niveda Prasad, which needs to be distributed to distant places. What is unique about this Prasad distribution is that the temple priest has to be barefoot and cannot be accompanied by any other person while distributing the Prasad,” said Chari.
Chari further informed that the EV can run upto 200 kms on a fully charged battery.
“A different suspension mechanism has been used instead of shock absorbers. The vehicle will jump if shock absorbers are used and so, we used different methods to ensure the drive is smooth and safe.”
“The EV has a capacity carry up to four persons, but it has been deliberately designed witn only one seat, as it has been built for the temple priest to distribute Lord Parshuram Prasad.”
Chari said it cost him about Rs 1.4 lakh to build the EV.
“It took me two-and-half months to build it as I literally spent over one month only to identify and source the parts from different places. But now, a new EV can be built in one-and-half month or even less,” said Chari.
Chari said he can now design and build similar EVs for any temples or for any other specialised use and is willing to take up the challenge. Pankaj said temple committees may contact him on Ph: 8208650832.
