In the ongoing Assembly Session, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar raised questions about the status of underground cabling in the Vasco Constituency, on Monday.
In response, Minister Sudin Dhavlikar provided an update on the ongoing projects and future plans. The Minister stated that underground cabling is currently underway and will continue in a phased manner to cover the remaining areas in the Vasco constituency.
Dhavalikar informed that two major projects are in progress -- Conversion of overhead 11KV Vasco City Feeder and introduction of new 11KV Khariwada Feeder.
The first project involves converting the overhead 11KV Vasco City feeder to an 11KV underground cable network, including the introduction of a new 11KV Khariwada feeder. The project, which caters to areas in Khariwada and Vasco city, is estimated to cost Rs 132,200,829 and is currently in the tendering process.
Another project is the conversion of overhead 11KV Mangor Feeder, wherein two 11KV underground feeders, namely Mangor and Varunapuri feeders, will be converted underground. It also includes providing connectivity for a ring feed from the 33/11 KV Kadamba Substation at Vasco. The project is estimated at Rs 249,733,414, and the completion work is currently under scrutiny.
Regarding quality control, the Minister assured that the government has a monitoring system in place. The underground cables, joints, and other materials such as RMU, LBS, LV switch boards, and service pillars are all from department-approved standard makes, he said.
These materials undergo the approval of their Guaranteed Technical Particulars (GTP) and drawings before manufacturing. Only reputed brands and companies are included in the approved list. Additionally, department engineers test all materials at the factory site before dispatch. Registered licensed contractors carry out all cable-related work, supervised by department engineers.
