VALPOI
People have expressed outrage over the frequent power outages in Valpoi town and surrounding villages for the last five days.
People complained that there have been frequent power cuts even without heavy rains and strong winds in the area.
While students claimed they were unable to pursue online classes due to the frequent power failures, a youth said the power cuts had affected his business.
“I am into online business and have to take part in online meetings. But due to power outages, I cannot conduct these online business meetings. There are many other people with similar stories to tell,” complained the youth.
Said another resident: “The electricity department should also inform the public regarding such interruption and ongoing restoration work so that we can make alternate arrangements during such power cuts.”
When contacted, a Valpoi electricity department official said there was some fault in the HT lines.
“Electricity staff are trying to locate the fault. Since these HT lines pass through thickly forested areas, it becomes difficult for the staff to ascertain the exact location of the fault,” said the official.
