Promotion from PSI to PI removed from GPSC ambit

Now, Police Service Establishment Board panel to conduct process

PANAJI

The promotional process from the post of police sub-inspector to police inspector posts in the Goa police department has been removed from the ambit of the Goa Public Service Commission and will now be conducted by a departmental promotion committee under the Police Service Establishment Board headed by the Director General of Police.
A notification issued by the Under Secretary (Personnel) Vishal Kundaikar earlier last week tweaked the recruitment rules to the posts of police inspector, which until now were filled by promoting police sub-inspectors through a process adjudicated by the Departmental Promotion Committee presided over by the GPSC.
The notification issued by Kundaikar now removes the process from the ambit of GPSC and brings it under a DPC presided over by the Police Establishment Board headed by the Director General of Police as chairman.
Others on the board are Inspector General of Police (IGP), Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Seniormost Superintendent of Police (SP) and the Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) as its Member Secretary.
The Police department has a sanction for 121 posts of police inspector of which currently 91 are already filled. Eight others are promoted to "officiating" police inspectors and the department currently has 22 clear vacancies for police inspector posts.
