PANAJI
The government through a circular issued on Wednesday by Education Director Bhushan K Savaikar has advised managements of private schools to refrain from any upward change in the fee structure for the current 2021-22 academic year, citing the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
"In order to maintain equality, the Government has decided not to permit any fee hike for the present Academic year 2021-22 and to retain the same fee structure as of last year," Savaikar said in the circular.
The teaching-learning process in almost all academic institutions was forced into the online mode the whole of the last academic year due to the pandemic, shutting all physical activity in schools.
Parents of students, particularly from the primary section where questions were raised of their ability to absorb and learn in the online mode, have felt the pinch of the fees charged by unaided private schools.
