Rise in seawater washes away garbage bins at Benaulim beach

MARGAO

The rise in seawater due to the cyclone developing in the Arabian sea washed away a couple of garbage bins placed at the Benaulim beach last night.

Garbage bins placed at the Colva beach also faces the threat of being washed into the sea later tonight on Sunday morning if the same are not lifted to a safe place.

Benaulim fisherman Pele informed that though the garbage bins placed at Benaulim beach were washed on the beach by the rising seawater last night, no one from the government side has come to salvage the bins throughout Saturday morning.

On the adjoining Colva beach, a local fisherman pointed out that the garbage bins placed on the world-famous beach may just be washed away into the sea if the contractor or the labourers do not lift them to a safe place.

Meanwhile, the disaster management team that has come down to Goa were all kept at Monte Hill on Saturday morning, with a senior official saying the team will be deployed at Vasco in view of the cyclone.
