RND plans RoRo ferry on Divar-St Pedro route

River Navigation Department (RND) plans to deploy a small-sized roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) ferry on the Divar“St Pedro, Ribandar route, informed RND director Vikram Rajebhosale. 

Meanwhile, company building the ferries has begun trial runs of the two RoRo ferries commissioned by the department in the Zuari river. Once tested, they will be introduced on the busy Ribandar“Chorao route. 

Each ferry can carry up to 17 cars, and with separate entry and exit points, turnaround time is expected to reduce significantly. 

The two RoRo ferries are  constructed on a build-and-operate basis. The RND also plans to phase out ferries over 20 years old.
