Left red-faced over the alleged tender scam expose into for U-17 Women’s FIFA World Cup 2022, the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) has issued a ‘warning memo’ to its entire staff after the confidential communication was leaked in the public domain.
The memo issued by SAG Executive Director Geeta Nagvenkar has warned to suspend the staff if caught leaking official records to the media.
“It has been observed from the press reports published in various Newspapers in the State and from viral massages (messages) on social media… that photocopies of this office file noting, official Orders, Circulars are being circulated without the acknowledgment of the HoD or the concerned Authority having the (in) possession of the Official records,” it reads.
Terming the incident as serious misconduct, Nagvenkar claimed this was a final warning to all her staff in the SAG by letting them off with a strict warning this time. “…All the employees of SAG are hereby finally warned in their own interest not to circulate unofficially any Official documents on Social media….and also (to) not give any such information to the press…in future unofficially, failing which strict disciplinary action will be initiated against the concerned employee of SAG,” she stated warning of suspending/terminating of the employee without further warning.
SAG has come under the scanner for allegedly executing works for the game to an event management company without a tender. Processing the file for ex-post-facto financial approval for the event to the tune of Rs 3.04 crore has also raised questions if the government was in the know about the development.
