OLD GOA
St Andre MLA Francis Silveira was targeted at the Siridao meeting held to oppose the Nauxi marina project as various speakers spoke out against him for not being decisive on the issue.
It all started with social worker Tony Fernandes from Agassaim stating that if he was the MLA he would have resigned if the party did not listen to him.
Later, Cecille Rodrigues asked Silveira to lead from the front if he is really against the marina project. Activist Rama Kankonkar, who compered the meeting, targeted Silveira throughout as he asked him to give a timeframe about when the marina project will be scrapped.
Adv Suresh Palkar too took a dig at the MLA and asked him to explain to the people what steps he has taken to get the marina project scrapped.
Allowed to speak at the end of the meeting, Silveira said that since 2010 he has been opposing the marina project and will continue to do so. “My government will not allow the project to come in St Andre constituency,” Silveira said while stating that he is willing to lead a delegation to meet the CM on the issue.
“I will seek an appointment with the CM so that the issue is discussed and resolved,” Silveira said.
