During the extended Easter weekend, six persons were rescued from the beaches of Goa by Drishti Marine lifesavers along with preventing a person from committing suicide.

Details shared by Drishti Marine reveal that a 32-year-old tourist from Mumbai was rescued off the Agonda coast after he was caught in a rip current near a rocky section of the beach.

Off Benaulim beach, a 47-year-old woman from Kolkata was rescued by a lifesaver who observed her struggling in a flash rip current. She was rescued with the help of a tube.

At Colva Beach, a Mysore tourist, 32, was prevented from attempting suicide with the timely intervention of a patrolling supervisor, who calmed the distressed man, provided assistance, and alerted the authorities.

Meanwhile, at Palolem Beach, a 24-year-old Hyderabad resident kayaking offshore faced danger when his kayak began leaking. Quick action by a vigilant jet ski operator ensured his safe return to shore. Similarly, at Cola River, two 32-year-old men from Bengaluru found themselves in peril when their kayak overturned. They were rescued too.

At Colva Beach, a three-year-old child was reunited with his parents from Margao after being found wandering by a vigilant lifesaver.

The State witnessed an increase in footfalls during the two back-to-back long weekends owing to Holi festival and Good Friday. With school holidays also underway, the State has been recording a rise in Indian tourists.
