St Andre MLA forces removal of tea stall set up on bridge

OLD GOA

St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar forced the removal of the tea stall which was set up on the new Zuari bridge, ever since the bridge was thrown open to public from Sunday.

Accompanied by reporters, Borkar questioned the tea stall owner whether he has been granted permission for the stall and if so, by whom.

The tea stall owner replied that the DBL’s manager has given him permission for setting up the stall, after which MLA Borkar asked him to call that person.

Later, over the phone the manager informed that he had sought permission from a former MLA.

Piqued over the same, Borkar questioned whether a former MLA has powers to give permission for such activity on the bridge, which is constructed at the cost of the exchequer.

Later, Borkar threatened that he would ask locals from Agassaim to set up stalls at the bridge if the said tea stall is not immediately dismantled following which the stall owner assured that he would dismantle the same and not come on Wednesday, the last day for public to visit the bridge.
