A One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS) for domestic as well as commercial consumers to clear arrears of electricity bills was on Wednesday approved by the State cabinet.
The OTS includes full or part waiver of the Delay Payment Charges (DPC) but envisages full payment of principle energy charges.
Power Minister Nilesh Cabral said depending on the number of installments opted the percentage of delayed payment charges waiver will vary.
An aggregate 413 crore bills accounting for nearly Rs 410 crore are outstanding for recovery by the Electricity department.
The implementation of the entire one time settlement will be done online with payments made through the electricity department website without any physical visit to offices, Cabral said.
Power Minister Cabral said that bills need to be cleared within one month to avoid disconnection.
On payment of full amount, no delayed payment charges will be levied ie 100% DPC will be waived off and if a consumer wants to go for payment on installments, then percentage of delayed payment charges waiver will vary.

The power minister warned that defaulters wouldn't be spared as dues have been outstanding for the last 38 years.
Meanwhile the contract for LED Fixtures and Street Lights was scrapped by the cabinet on Wednesday and the work will now be executed by the Electricity Department itself.
