MARGAO
A delegation of the Mormugao Stevedores Association called on Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai to raise their concern regarding the employment of locals at the Mormugao Port Authority.
The GFP Chief Sardesai assured the delegation that he would raise the matter in the upcoming Assembly session. He said the Goa government should speak to the central government, which is the main engine, and give justice to "Goemkars".
“I have also spoken to South Goa MP and have told him to raise this issue with the central shipping minister. If the berth is privatised, then nearly 1,000 people will directly lose their livelihood and more will be affected indirectly,” he added.
