Suchana opts not to seek bail, sent to 13-day custody

PANAJI
The accused in the killing of her four-year-old child, Suchana Seth has chosen not to seek regular bail even after 11 days of questioning in custody at Calangute police station. On Friday, she was further remanded to 13-day judicial custody.

Her legal representative in the Children's Court, Adv Franco said that Suchana's family has instructed against filing a bail application, at least for now. "Seth has not sought bail, as per instructions from her family," he said speaking to The Goan.

The Bengaluru start-up CEO is alleged to have smothered her son after an overdose of cough syrup and then packed his body in a trolley bag for disposal. She was arrested by Chitradurga police in Karnataka on January 8, hours after she tried to flee to Bengaluru with the ‘luggage’ from Candolim via road.

The accused, now lodged in Colvale Central Jail, has not cooperated with the investigation all through her custodial interrogation, as per the police submission. She has also been giving contradictory statements.

The Calangute police are expected to summon more witnesses in support of the case while her estranged husband, Venkat Raman, has already deposed against her.
