Bardez reported a sudden spike in Covid cases with 152 persons testing positive at the six health centres in the taluka on Thursday.
Porvorim and Candolim Primary Health Centres led the charge with 44 and 38 new cases reported in the two centres respectively.
Health Officer Dr Roshan Nazareth informed that 19 persons each have been tested positive in Britona and Socorro, four in Guirim and two in Salvador do Mundo in the jurisdiction of the Porvorim PHC.
Similarly, 10 persons tested positive in Candolim, seven each in Calangute, Pilerne and Reis Magos, four in Sangolda and three in Saligao under the Candolim PHC.
Mapusa Urban Health Centre recorded a total of 24 cases on Thursday. Six persons were infected with the virus in Duler, four each in Carrasvaddo and Shetya-vaddo/Peddem, three in Raj-vaddo and one each in Khorlim, Morod, Ganeshpuri, Dangui Colony, Housing Board, Cunchelim and Dattawadi.
According to the Siolim PHC Health Officer Dr Sadhna Shetye a total of 26 positive cases were recorded in her jurisdiction.
She said 15 persons tested positive in Anjuna, six in Canca, three in Siolim-Marna and two in Assagao.
Six inmates of the Central jail were among the 11 cases reported in Covale PHC. Assonora (2), Colvale (2) and Tivim (1) made up the balance of the cases in the PHC.
Aldona PHC Health Officer Dr Preetam Naik informed that nine persons were infected from her area. Four persons each tested positive in Aldona and Moira and one in Bastora.
