BELAGAVI
As Karnataka goes into a 14-day total lockdown from Monday, vehicular movement from Goa and Maharashtra has been totally banned as the interstate borders have been sealed.
Authorities have urged Goans not to cross the Karnataka border unless for emergency.
With the huge rise in the Covid-19 cases in Belagavi district the district administration has sealed all the State borders with Goa and Maharashtra.
Apart from totally banning the interstate vehicular movement between Goa and Maharashtra, movement of two wheelers and passenger vehicles on the city roads has also been banned totally.
Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Dr K Harish Kumar and in co-ordination with taluka officials and police, all borders with Maharashtra and Goa have been sealed.
Police have also sealed the borders of Belagavi so that people entering from Goa and Maharashtra via Vengurla, Chorla and other State highways are checked.
“Police have been stationed at the border and other entry points to Karnataka. The routes between Belagavi and Goa will be open only for emergency and vehicles carrying essential commodities,” SP Laxman Nimbargi told The Goan.
