PANAJI

The Traffic Department on Wednesday resumed its drive against unauthorised modified bike silencers and loud exhausts. The Panaji Traffic Cell seized five motorcycles during the operation. DySP (North Traffic) Sudesh Narvekar said the owners of the seized vehicles will be issued challans, which will be sent to court. The violators will have to appear in person. He said strict penalties are imposed in such cases as part of wider efforts to reduce noise pollution and ensure compliance with traffic rules. The action follows clear instructions from senior officers to step up enforcement against illegal modifications. He added that modified and loud silencers are not allowed under the law, and strict action will continue against offenders.
