Two remanded to 14-day judicial custody, four absconding

MAPUSA

A Mapusa court on Thursday remanded two individuals accused in the alleged Cunchelim land scam to 14 days of judicial custody.

The Mapusa Police had earlier registered a case against six people in connection with the scam.

Late Wednesday evening, police arrested Ramesh Rao, an employee of the Mapusa Municipality, and Shakil Sheikh.

The other four accused “ Raju Mandrekar, Raja Anthony, Nobert, and Ravi “ remain absconding. According to police sources, efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the absconding suspects.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that the four absconding accused have already filed applications seeking anticipatory bail. The Cunchelim land scam has drawn attention in the area, with police assuring swift action to ensure justice in the case.
