Urgent call for responsibility amidst exploitation by some Portuguese passport agents

Authorities have made a pressing appeal urging people to exercise heightened responsibility and caution as some agents -- charging exorbitant fees amounting to several lakhs -- are reportedly not working in the right direction. This also raises the question of whether lapses exist in the existing laws and whether it is being audaciously exploited. The authorities could be helpless although the government asserts that once the violator is caught, action could be severe.  

There have been several instances of unscrupulous practices by some agents that not only exhaust the financial resources of those seeking assistance but also pose a threat to the integrity of the naturalization process.

The MEA source stated that a collective responsibility of the community is crucial in curbing the influence of agents operating in the wrong direction and ensuring a more transparent and ethical process for those seeking Portuguese citizenship.

As the authorities work to address the challenges posed by these agents, the plea remains “ be responsible, be informed, and safeguard against possible exploitation.
