Vasco police on Sunday evening arrested three women who were involved in stealing cash from a wine shop in Baina with the help of a child.
While the alert worker of the shop managed to catch the child while stealing the money from the counter, the group of three women and two children fled from the spot even as the whole incident was caught on CCTV.
The owner of the shop immediately downloaded the CCTV footage and handed it over to the police who while patrolling nabbed the gang from near the railway station.
Sources said while the three women were arrested, the 7-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy were lodged at Apna Ghar.
Vasco police registered an offence and arrested Nandini Kumbhar, Sutukala Kale and Pallavi Shinde, all three natives of Pune.
PSI Mayur K Sawant is further investigating the case under the supervision of PI Kapil Nayak and guidance of DySP Salim Shaikh.
