Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Monday launched the work on the Phase 2 of the Jogger’s Park in Dabolim.Speaking to reporters, Godinho said the original Jogger’s Park project was estimated at Rs 15 crores, but for some reasons it was split into two phases.
Godinho said that the park will be self-sustaining with some revenue generated for the panchayat which, in turn, can take up maintenance works, whenever required.
"The first phase of Jogger’s Park was taken up at Rs 6 crore and the second phase will be taken up at Rs 10 crore and will have more amenities and facilities.”
“The Jogger’s park has become one of the best parks in the State. It will have something for everyone, right from children to senior citizens. The second phase will have a children’s creche taken up by specialised staff so that parents can enjoy their walk.”
“The walking track will be a latest rubberised surface and will be broader than the present one. We will have an amphitheatre and plant more trees with water harvesting." said Godinho.
Godinho said the park will house a Mahila Bhavan with a park, where skilled training in various vocations will be imparted to women. There will also be kiosks where self-help groups from Dabolim can display and sell the products.
"We will have an open and indoor gym for the youth to exercise at any time of the year. We will have an e-Library for senior citizens and we will have a food court. We will have more toilets and entertainment zone where people have can have their functions. We will have better equipments for children in the park," said Godinho.
