In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old woman was killed in a road mishap after she was dragged almost 100 metres after coming under the wheels of a moving car at Starco junction, Anjuna in the wee hours of Monday.
The deceased has been identified as T Poojitha, a resident of Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. She was employed in a guest house in Anjuna.
According to Anjuna Police, the two-wheeler on which the deceased was riding pillion was overtaking a car near the Starco junction when the rider lost balance and hit a roadside compound wall.
With the impact the deceased fell on the road and came under the wheels of the moving car, police said.
“The deceased who came under the wheels of the car was dragged for almost 100 metres resulting in serious injuries,” the investigating officer informed.
She later succumbed to her injuries, police said.
The deceased was first shifted to the St Anthony’s Hospital, Anjuna and later shifted to the Goa Medical College hospital.
The police have registered a case under Section 279 and 304 A of the IPC against the car driver Samreen Bawani from Hyderabad. Bawani has been arrested and the case is under investigation.
