An unidentified youth jumped into the Mandovi river from the Ganjem-Ambeshi bridge in Usgao on Saturday morning.
The incident came to light when workers collecting garbage in the area saw the youth walking towards the bridge from the Ganjem side and suddenly jumping off the bridge and into the river. The garbage collectors then alerted some locals who, in turn, notified the Bicholim police and the Ponda fire station.
The missing youth could not be located due to the high water level in the river. Some locals had earlier noticed the youth alighting a bus, before walking towards the bridge.
