Illegal drug trade foiled: Goa-sourced cocaine intercepted in Mangaluru

The Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) has made a significant bust in the illegal drug trade originating from Goa, apprehending two individuals and confiscating 35 grams of cocaine valued at Rs 2.72 lakh.

Acting swiftly on a tip-off, a team under the leadership of CCB inspector Shyam Sundar HM intercepted a two-wheeler at Elyarpadavu Maidan in Ullal, leading to the arrest of the suspects. The accused have been identified as Sadakath U alias Shan Nawaz (31) and Mahammed Ashfaq alias Ashfa (25), both residents of Amblamogaru.

In addition to the cocaine haul, the police seized three mobile phones, a digital weighing scale, and Rs 5560 in cash from the possession of the accused, with a total estimated value of Rs 4 lakh.

Commissioner Agrawal emphasized that the arrested individuals were key players in the trafficking network, procuring cocaine from Goa and distributing it across Karnataka and Kerala. Moreover, the investigation has revealed the involvement of several others in this illicit operation.

It has been disclosed that Sadakath has a previous case under the NDPS Act and an assault case at the Konaje Police Station. The case has been registered at CEN station in Mangaluru, and investigations are underway.
