Goa announced the launch of its AI Mission 2027 on the national stage at the just-concluded India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, where the State positioned itself as future-ready and focused on ethical and citizen-centric AI adoption.
The announcement was made at the summit hosted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology at Bharat Mandapam, held from February 16-20.
Officials from the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C) outlined that the AI Mission 2027 will anchor Goa’s strategy to deploy Artificial Intelligence across governance, startups and social impact sectors. The Mission includes structured initiatives such as an AI for Governance and Social Impact workshop, a State-level AI Hackathon, and the rollout of an AI-powered chatbot integrated into the Goa Online Portal.
A press statement from the department stated that Heramb Kanekar from the Startup and IT Promotion Cell informed the attendees about the State’s approach to responsible innovation and scalable solutions that directly benefit citizens. The focus, he said, is on improving service delivery, increasing transparency and enabling data-driven decision-making within departments.
Goa’s participation at the summit also saw five home-grown startups exhibit their AI-driven products at the AI Impact Expo. The State has described the move as part of a broader effort to build an ecosystem where startups can develop, test and scale AI applications within the State.
The summit was hosted at an area spread across 70,000 sq mtrs with more than 840 exhibitors, and inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The expo featured international, state, enterprise and startup pavilions across 10 arenas.
