The office of the Land Survey Department at Margao witnessed an uproar after a head surveyor was assaulted by an unknown person on Monday.
The head surveyor Prasad Sawant Desai was rushed to a hospital after he sustained injuries when the unknown assailant assaulted him with a helmet. The assailant was captured on a CCTV camera escaping from the Collectorate complex after the assault. He is believed to have left behind his vehicle in the complex while fleeing away.
The Superintendent, Land Survey has lodged an FIR with the Fatorda police to investigate and nab the culprit involved in the assault. Inspector, Land Survey Chetan Jadhav told the media that the incident occurred when the unknown person entered the office and picked up an argument with the head surveyor over some file.
Jadhav informed that the assailant did not give any reference to the file nor provided any details, but turned aggressive before assaulting the head surveyor. “After the accused managed to escape, we rushed the head surveyor to the hospital,” he said.
