Kulkarni originally from Maharashtra, temporarily residingin Panjmi was arrested from Jaipur Rajasthan after he fled away from Goalooting people in crores of Rupees. Superintendent of Police North Goa, VijaySingh has said that he has conned more than 2000 Goans and outsiders to thetune of RS 25-30 crores. He has been avoiding arrest since July 2012. His wifeVrushali Kulkarni had already been arrested in the same case, presently lodgedat judicial custody at Sada Sub Jail,Vasco.
The case came to light after one Elezabeth Rodrigues, a residentof Miramar lodged a complaint that Satyajeet Kulkarni and his wife induced theElezabeth to pay Rs 5 lakh to invest in their film production business and theaccused had assured her a return of 15% interest (Rs 75 thousand per month),which he failed to pay.
SP Vijay Singh said that accused person placed advertisementsin local dailies inviting business plans from people about investment in a filmproduction company called The Goa News and Mangal Sandhya Pictures. The accusedalso ran a daily evening newspaper called The Goa News.
