Fr Conceicao D’Silva was laid to rest on Monday evening after Archbishop of Goa and Daman Filipe Neri Ferrao led a concelebrated High Mass at the St Michael's Church, Orlim. Fr Conceicao was a pioneer of the Charismatic movement in Goa. After attending a retreat at the Divine Retreat Centre in Kerala, the priest started the charismatic movement in Goa by conducting retreats at Ambelim with his prayer group. These retreats were attended by large crowds from all over Goa. From this point, the charismatic movement grew in the state. Fr Conceicao conducted retreats in every parish that he served. As an evangelist, Fr Conceicao travelled all over the world to conduct services, especially where Goans had settled and helped them to lead a good Catholic life. Due to his immense contribution to the charismatic movement in Goa, it would be desirable for the Church in the state to build a retreat centre at a convenient place in Goa in memory of Fr Conceicao. The work that Fr Conceicao carried out during his lifetime needs to be continued so that more and more people get the spiritual experience by attending these retreats.
