Ahoy Marina project will impact sensitive ecosystem

The double engine sarkar of the BJP is steamrolling projects like a juggernaut against the wishes of the people. The Ahoy Marina project imbroglio was an open and shut case when the contentious project was put on the back burner with due consensus of the State and Centre given the impact it will have on biodiversity and sensitive ecosystem. Three opposition parties, viz. the GAM, AAP and RGP are spearheading a frontal attack against the misdemeanour of the powers that be to override the Environmental Clearance. The Social Justice Arm of the Diocesan Commission for Ecology too joined the litany of chorus questioning the Expert Appraisal Committee decision. The nationalisation of our rivers, coal and logistics hub, double tracking all portends to destruction of the fragile ecosystem and biodiversity of the state which has been bestowed by nature and has been preserved for posterity by our elders. Even the successive Mughal empires including the colonial Portuguese regime had not tampered with these unique natural gifts. This autocratic government has proved its mettle by even overruling Supreme Court strictures by adopting the ordinance route to have its say in matters inimical to them.

Prioritise protection of Goa's environment
