The Delhi High Court has reminded prominent yoga Guru Ramdev that while he is welcome to have followers, he should not mislead the public against allopathic medicines.
Several doctor's associations have filed a lawsuit against the Baba for allegedly spreading misinformation concerning the use of Patanjali's Covid 'cure' by denigrating the western system of medicine.
Baba Ramdev is a hugely popular figure but with popularity also comes responsibility to choose one's words with caution and care. Promoting one form of medicine is fine but illogically criticizing the centuries old allopathic system is not kosher.
It is pertinent to note that both the Baba and his second in command Acharya Balkrishna who controls the business interests of Ramdev's empire chose to be admitted to AIIMS when struck with Covid and heart attack respectively, why did they not resort to ayurveda/ homeopathy which they profess and promote so vigorously.
The Baba would be well advised to refrain for running down western medicine in the garb of patriotism and promoting local dawa daaru, it might cost lives.
