If the government had cared for the common man, they would have started construction of Porvorim elevated corridor in January. This would have been a boon for the citizens and also the traffic police. With IFFI, SFX Exposition, and other festivals in season it made sense to first get the service/alternative routes planned and constructed first. The result now is traffic chaos, routine traffic jams due to undisciplined traffic in a hurry, pedestrians in great danger, all banks, shops, hotels en route facing loss/ having to close down/relocate and all activity like education, shopping, eateries and medical access etc becomes hazardous and painful. This is just starting and how long the 2 years envisaged will stretch and things for the public getting worse is anyone's guess. The government has not discussed this with all the stakeholders and besides some compensation for land and breaking down walls of residents en route, tree cutting, relocating of places of worship information dissemination it appears is not being done. It is hoped that the government takes feedback from the public to help make life safer and easier for them.
