In the coastal villages of Goa a lot of people have taken to burning dry leaves to keep their surroundings free of litter.
This not only pollutes the atmosphere but also risks the lives of morning walkers and damages vehicles parked along the roads.
It would be in the fitness of things if the village panchayat makes periodic arrangements for lifting the dry leaves and composting, the natural fertilizer thus generated can be distributed to the farmers for payment of a nominal fee. This would indeed be a win-win situation for both the environment and common man.
