The Electricity Department (despite of giving a hopeless service and failing to provide Goans with uninterrupted 24 x 7 power supply in the state) has now reportedly proposed an average hike of 6% (15 to 60 paise) as the department claims that the tariff was frozen for the last four years, especially from the Covid pandemic times in Goa. Why is the govt still going on giving/releasing illegal connections for thousands of people who are found renting their rooms/shops and running all types of road side businesses in most parts of Goa? Secondly, if the financial position of the Electricity Department is also not sound due to the above mentioned reason then why is the government of the day still seen wasting huge public funds in organising some useless so-called 'fests'/festivals? It should be noted that the current BJP government had promised to provide Goans with uninterrupted power supply at a cheaper rate just before elections. I think that our CM Pramod Sawant instead of deliberately remaining silent like one spectator over this latest proposed tariff hike should now try to intervene and bring some relief for Goans at the very earliest.
