Recently, I read that the PWD will be issuing proper guidelines to PWD contractors for the design of speed breakers to be installed on Goan roads. The Indian Road Congress has a scientific design for the type of speedbreaker that should be installed, but our PWD Engineers do not bother to provide the design to the so-called registered-PWD contractors when awarding the contract order.
Recently, while driving on the internal roads in the defense colony behind Dr Prabhu’s clinic, someone installed molded plastic speed breakers that are extremely dangerous for pregnant women and the public. I request that the PWD engineer inspects and installs a standard-designed speed breaker made of hot mix for the safety of all. This is urgent, as the road is busy with lots of vehicles that recklessly speed through, putting the lives of the most senior citizens who live in this area at risk as well. I hope better sense prevails.
