The BJP government in Goa is going all out to give a grand welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who scheduled to address a public meeting in Margao on February 6.
Roads are being tarred, roadside garbage is cleared, footpaths are refurbished etc. Nothing wrong in all this that the government is doing.
But what is disturbing is the needless cutting of two magnificent trees at the KTC bus terminus in Margao. These trees were almost a century old where people took shelter from the scorching heat during the summer.
Practically, every time Modi visits Goa for a mega event, the government senselessly commits environmental atrocities. The same was the case some years back where fields were destroyed for setting up a helipad at Mapusa.
There was absolutely no need for these magnificent trees to be cut. Is destroying the environment the true values of BJP?
