Governors of the state are appointed by Central Govt and are always reserved for those seeking final resting grounds from active politics. It is well-known they are a link between state and centre and often are trouble shooters at the bidding of masters. The Governor of Goa had expressed his views on expenditure on new Governor's residence as avoidable but to no avail. He is known to visit many a charitable organisation and has voluntarily extended aid to many such institutes. Recently his visit to many villages in Salcete is a path breaking decision to interact with citizens and obtain first hand knowledge. Perhaps he is the first Governor whom people could meet without formal protocol at their doorsteps due to his personal initiative. These visits have a humanitarian angle and are not for personal publicity and aggrandisements, in that many people were issued cheques of Rs 25,000 each for dialysis treatment. Now he has invited applications with proper documentation for aid to cancer patients. His path breaking initiative is laudable. We appreciate your concerns for the needy and congratulate you.
