It has become a bad trend by unruly and drunken tourists to drive their own or rented vehicles on the yet beautiful beaches of Goa. Yesterday a Mercedes-Benz car with Andhra Pradesh registration got stuck in the sand of Bogmalo beach (The Goan Everyday 03.05.2024). A week back a Tamil Nadu tourist drive his car onto the Morjim beach, a turtle-breeding zone. These are just two recent incidents and there are several more that occurred in the past. When there are cautionary boards at some beaches not to drive on the beaches and it is common sense not to do so, then the best way would be not to help the troublemakers. The services of a crane or JCB should not be provided and the offenders should remove their vehicle on their own. Once the vehicle is out of the sands, it should be impounded for at least 4 months and a fine of Rs.10,000/ be charged for every month. The offenders should be made to pay a penalty of Rs.10,000 per head and be imprisoned for two days. Let them enjoy Goa from behind the bars!
