This is with reference to the news titled “Government takes small step towards building Chorao “ Salvador-Do-Mundo Bridge”. The Goan Everyday dated September 2, 2023. The Mayem MLA Premendra Shet had said the 200 metres long bridge connecting to Salvador-do-Mundo will be constructed by the Goa State Industrial Development Corporation (GSIDC) at an estimated cost of Rs 250 crores. The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had said the bridge will be built by the Central government scheme on Sagarmala project and the land acquisition is underway and as soon as the process is completed the foundation stone will be laid. The BJP functionary Premanand Mahambrey has said that almost 18,000 sq. mts., of land has to be acquired on the Salvador-do-Mundo side. While another 9,000 sq. mt., of land has to be acquired on the Chorao saide. The Comunidade of Serula had given its consent to part with around 10,000 sqm of land for the bridge.
Last but not the least, Premanand Mahambrey as then the Sarpanch of Chorao-Madel and now a BJP functionary has tried to fulfill the bridge promise. The small step taken by the government towards building Chorao-Salvador-do-Mundo bridge, but the noise of building will go on till the Lok Sabha election. When the foundation stone is finally laid and the bridge built then one can proudly call it the Chorao-Salvador-do-Mundo bridge.
