Residents at Dona Paula had a nightmare for more than a week on account of dumping garbage and other debris in a plot which the owner seems not interested in. This plot falls falls on Bambolim- Dona Paula highway road and every passerby comes with bags full of their house garbage and regularly dump their bags. I see everyday people putting fire to the garbage and the smoke is so much that we cannot even breathe fresh air, and all those residing nearby this area are sick and now suffering from allergies. There are number of families in this area of Dona Paula Bay View and Ocean Park and Rosary Convent who have fallen sick and our NIO Dispensary and nearby clinic is crowded with these patients.
Local newspapers has covered this issue of fumes which spread all over Dona Paula and even police station which is at their vicinity are unable to take action. The open plot at the Dona Paula circle which I mentioned earlier is turning into a small Sonsodo similar to the one in Curtorim Salcete. The Corporator of this area at Dona Paula tried his level best to persuade the Mayor who is the Chairman of the Smart City and other government bureaucrats but all his efforts has gone in vain. Now after I have further persuaded, this Corporator took steps and called the Fire Brigade with their tanker and spread water all over the places where there are still ashes and fire going on.
