In Panaji, it is miserable to observe how the roads are jammed due to traffic and how motorists act so casually when an ambulance is behind them. Even if the ambulance plays the siren, drivers continue with the normal speed and an ambulance driver literally has to drive in a zig-zag pattern.
The above scenario is observed after office hours at five in the evening when everybody is in a hurry to reach home. And with Christmas and the wedding season at their peak, it’s even more tormenting for patients, medical personnel and the ambulance driver to drive through the heavy traffic.
Every one of us is duty-bound to make for ambulances because every minute matters for the medical personnel to save lives. Remember our casual attitude on the road is putting someone’s life in danger.
