Dadra and Nagar Haveli were two small Portuguese ruled territories between Gujarat and Maharashtra states. In 1954, a revolt probably instigated by the Indian government led to the ouster of the Portuguese and this territory was later annexed into the Union of India. The honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modiji in his speech in Goa on December 19 said that if Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel had lived longer, Goa could have been liberated much before 1961. Isn’t this an indirect blame on our freedom fighters that had they revolted strongly Goa together with Daman and Diu could have been liberated earlier? At least this type of insult should not have been heaped on our brave freedom fighters who sacrificed so much to release Goa from the clutches of the Portuguese.
