The contractor for laying pipes and other works in Panaji has stored/dumped sewage pipes, construction materials and tonnes of mud and sand at Campal ground, opposite Bal Bhavan. If there is an unseasonal summer rain or when monsoon will set in, the mounds would result in mud slide and mud flow. Usually the Bal Bhavan area is prone to flooding and this year it is going to be horrific and may turn into a catastrophe.
The newly laid drainage systems would certainly get chocked and the pavers may come off. The incoming high tide water would compound to the misery of commuters and residents and Campal clinic and other establishments in the vicinity. The newly built lush green football ground will turn into a brown mud slush and become a breeding place for mosquitoes.
The contractor must be instructed to soon move all the materials from Campal ground before a disaster occurs. It should not be covered with plastic or tarpaulin sheets like Sonsodo dump. Hopefully the delegates who were here for the recent G-20 meeting had not seen the Campal ground as it was not covered by white clothes.
