Quality of cement needs to be checked

Recently, there have been multiple incidents of concrete slabs collapsing. One notable incident was the collapse of the slab at the Kala Academy. This was a newly cast slab, and its collapse came as a shock to many. There have also been other instances of slabs collapsing, which is concerning. Colonial-era bridges and buildings have withstood the test of time, so it is puzzling that these collapses are happening now.

There are a number of factors that could be contributing to the collapses of concrete slabs. In addition to the quality of the cement, the quality of the steel used in the reinforced concrete (RCC) could also be a factor. Our elected representatives should make sure that tenders are passed only for projects that use high-quality materials and workmanship. They should also ensure that there are strict quality controls in place to prevent these collapses from happening in the future.
