In most places in Panaji, Campal, Miramar, Tonca, Caranzalem and St Inez the gutters are partially covered with concrete covers or the covers are missing for long distances. This results firstly, in the accumulation of dirt, plastics (bottles, covers), thermocol, cans etc. in the gutter. Pre-monsoon cleaning and removal of the debris from the gutters become a tedious work and an incomplete task leads to overflow of the gutters and flooding in the areas.
Secondly, people are unable to walk by the side of the road as there is always a danger of falling into the gutters. This is obvious outside the main entrance of Dhempe College of Arts and Science, where dozens of gutter covers are missing making it tough for the students and faculty to walk to the college. Hope the authorities take note of the missing and broken gutter covers and do the needful before the next monsoon.
